Dance
Competition.

The competition covers ballet, contemporary dance and jazz, with individual and group categories. Participants from Greece and abroad may take part.

Categories include set choreography supplied by the organiser and free-choice choreography selected by the competitor. Free-choice entries are still subject to category-specific requirements and time limits.

Ballet categories also include neoclassical dance, other styles and pas de deux. The Greek category tables specify the relevant ages, levels and pointe or demi-pointe requirements.

Use the Greek category tables and participation rules to select your category. This guide does not replace the detailed eligibility criteria. If you are unsure which category applies, ask the organiser before registering.

• Set choreography must not be altered. Changes, even minor ones, may lead to exclusion.
• Free-choice choreography must include the technical elements specified for the relevant category. Ballet repertoire is not permitted in the free-choice ballet categories.
• Some categories have special requirements for the final round. In particular, the ballet category labelled «Υπεροχής» has a repertoire requirement. Consult the full Greek rules instead of assuming the same choreography is used in every round.
• Where ballet repertoire is required, the exact version must be declared and performed without combining different versions.
• Submit appropriately edited music with the entry where required. Contact the organiser about stage dimensions for group choreography.

The detailed movement requirements retain their established ballet and dance terminology in the Greek rules. They are not paraphrased in this guide.

• Check the competitor’s age on the competition dates against the category limits. Younger competitors may enter an older age category; the reverse is not permitted, and younger competitors are not judged more leniently.
• Group age is calculated from the average age of the members. Groups consist of at least three dancers; duets and pas de deux have separate requirements.
• The rules specify attire for ballet entries. Costumes are permitted for repertoire choreography.
• Participants must carry identification documents during the competition and present them if requested.
• Photography and video recording during the competition are prohibited. Photos and videos can be obtained from the photographers working at the venue.
• The organising committee may change the performance order or the order of categories for a serious reason.
• Schools may contact the organiser after the competition for feedback on their participants’ semi-final performances.

Scores are out of 20: up to 10 points for musicality and interpretation, and up to 10 points for technique.

The jury makes a separate yes-or-no decision on advancement to the final. It may also reassign a competitor to a different category.

Prizes and scholarships concern the higher-level ballet, contemporary and jazz categories, although the jury may make exceptions. Breaches of the participation rules or inappropriate behaviour may lead to exclusion.

The jury’s composition is not announced before the competition.
